I'm Tristan. I built NeeTree on my own, and I run it myself. These are the terms between you and me, written plainly, because that's how I'd want to read them. Using the app means accepting them.
The short version: NeeTree is free, what you log is yours, please use it fairly, and if something goes wrong you can write to me.
Who you're dealing with
NeeTree is made and run by me, Tristan Née, working on my own in Los Angeles, California. There's no company behind it and no help desk — support@neetree.app is my inbox, and it's the address for anything on this page.

It's free
NeeTree is a free habit tracker: the daily main quest, the habits, the tree, and all four areas of it — Body, Mind, Love, Purpose. There's nothing to buy inside it and no ads. If that ever changed, nothing would be charged without you choosing it, and this page would say so first.
Your account
An account is optional — the app works fully without one, and it exists for a single reason: so your history survives a new phone. Your email address is the only key to it, so keep it one you can still open. You can move it while signed in, at Settings → Account → Change email, and delete the account from the same card.
Keep the account to yourself: one person, one account. NeeTree isn't built for children under 13.
What you log is yours
Your habits, quests, completions and anything you write in the app belong to you. I only hold a copy so it can reach your other devices, and I don't use it for anything else. What I store and who else touches it is spelled out in the privacy policy.
The app itself — its design, its words, the tree — is mine. Using it doesn't hand any of that over.
Using it fairly
Don't hammer the API, don't try to break into someone else's account, and don't use the sign-in emails to spam other people's inboxes. If someone does, I may end their access.
What I promise, and what I can't
I'll keep it running and fix what I can — but I can't promise it's always up or always right. It's one person's app on someone else's servers, and there will be bugs.
Most of what you log lives on your device rather than on mine, so deleting the app deletes it. Signing in is what gives you a second copy, and it's worth doing before you lose a phone rather than after.
The legal shape of that: NeeTree is provided as it is, without a warranty that it will suit a particular purpose. Because it's free, I'm not liable for losses that come from using it, and not for indirect or knock-on losses either. Nothing here limits my liability for death or personal injury caused by my negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law where you live doesn't let me limit.
Ending it
You can stop whenever you like: sign out, delete the account, delete the app. Nothing asks you to explain yourself.
If I ever have to shut NeeTree down, I'll say so ahead of time. Your history would still be on your device.
Changes to these terms
If they change, I'll update this page and the date at the top. Carrying on with the app after a change is accepting it — and if you'd rather not, you can stop at any time, the way the section above says.
The rest of the legal part
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, in the United States, where I am. If you live somewhere that gives consumers rights which can't be signed away, those still hold. The iPhone app is also covered by Apple's standard licence terms.
If one part of this turned out to be unenforceable, the rest of it still stands.
